Suggestions for my new system please

Thread Starter
I'm building a new cheap system to play some of the upcoming games like Bioshock and Crysis (only until I save enough to get a quad). I've put together this system so far:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Motherboard $109.99

An E6320 $165.50

This G.skill ram $88.99

It comes out to $364.48 + shipping. Is there anything I can improve and still stay under 400 without shipping costs? I'll be using the rest of the parts from my sig rig, all I need is the Motherboard, ram, and cpu. I also need a board that overclocks fairly well so I can get the e6320 to at least 2.8

E6550 167$ - http://www.ncixus.com/products/25297...57E6550/Intel/
They also have the E6750 for pretty cheap too: http://www.ncixus.com/products/25298...57E6750/Intel/

I would recommend you to buy one of those 2 and overclock it and wait for the Peryrn native quad core instead. If you are dead set on a Quad Core 2 then at least take the E6550 in the meantime screw that E6320.

Plus get yourself a P35 board as the previous poster said: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tel+P35+series

If you actually can wait for that PC teh X38 chipset boards are supposed to be released at the end of august / beginning of september if you can't wait then get a P35 board.

Do you think the E6550 or E6750 will overclock to 3.0GHZ+? I'll go with one of them if they are good overclockers. I'm kinda in a rush to get this system. I may wait though like you said.

Hahah does the 6550 or the 6750 overclock to 3Ghz easy... All core 2 Duo overclock to 3Ghz easy unless the person overclocking suck or you use the Intel heatsink (if you do don't overclock please) ehhe.

The E6550/E6750 should reach 3.5Ghz if not more in most case pretty easily.

The quad cores Yorkfield from Penryn aren't even native quad core though just two Kentsfields together... so a real quad core you will be waiting for over a year so don't bother.

Yeah my mistake, it's because I keep hearring that i typed it without thinking. What I mean is I am waiting for the peryrn for the architectural changes + switch to 45nm etc... I don't know why i said that, I am not one who bother with real quad vs 2 dual core dies differences, I was half awake when I wrote that hehe.

I might even switch to Core 2 Quad before they are released if the upcoming games show a big increase in FPS and the peryrn is still far.

Well Penyrn Quad Cores won't come till Q1 next year so its about 6 more months .
I was gonna wait for Penryn but thinking about it, its too long a wait and I will just wait for a much bigger architectural change and true quad cores till I get a new CPU after Q6600.
