Hit the NB a notch. And see if work.

Hey guys, have a question..
I don't really want to take my voltage over 1.45 due to advice on this forum, I want it to last me some years, so I want to see what the most stable OC is I can get at that voltage.

My question: What voltage monitor should I be watching..? Is the BIOS always right? Because then my proc runs at 3.6Ghz at 1.41v already.. Which wouldn't make me very happy considering I've just had this PC for 3 days and I hoped it to be my first machine to be able to really monsterously overclock.

Which of these voltages should I see as the actual voltage? CoreTemp and Everest show similar voltages, CPU-Z is way off of all and EasyTune (gigabyte's overclock and monitor utility) shows the highest voltage of all, the different with CoreTemp and Everest is 1.0V for crying out loud. Need some help here

EDIT: The voltage in Everest doesn't show the overclocked voltage but the stock voltage I think. In the sensors tab I found the cpu voltage to be 1.36.

Your probably experiencing 'vdroop'. The max you should set voltage would be between ~1.4-1.5, that is set, as in what you set in BIOS; windows utilities will show different volts because of vdroop and some boards will droop even lower during load.

EDIT:If your comfortable with a soldering iron you can try and do the vdroop mod on that board so the voltage will be more consistent, here's and howto guide for ya : http://www.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=4966&s=10
With some more searching you might also be able to find a pencil mod, much easier and is reversable, no soldering required either.

Hi and here's my OC on this chip. This is going to be my 24/7
I'm using a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme with a SilverStone FM121 for cooling.
Voltages in the notepad file are as in BIOS.

OK I bought an Antec 900 yesterday and moved my rig into it. Like a proud papa I posted info on Overclock.net in the Cases and Mods forum.

Guess what - I learned that for the past year I've had my Freezer 7 Pro installed BACKWARDS!!

Corrected that today... results are NICE... With a 3.465GHz OC my idle temp is either 16c or 31c depending on what you believe the 6850 Tjunction to be. More info on my goof-up and corrections at http://www.overclock.net/computer-ca...st2576363.html

I'll be back working up OC data in a day or so. Right now I am just enjoying my fancy new case with it's lovely blue-lit fans.

I think my motherboard is a huge factor in why i can tget more out of my chip...

Here is a pic of what i got it to... The vcore is really 1.56v not the 1.2v that cpuz sees....

And here is my cooling setup...

Sorry about the quality of the pic... My blackjack has issues with taking pictures...
