Hi all,

Okay, the highest stable OC that I have been able to achieve with this chip is 3.8 GHz.

Anything higher than that will fail Orthos. I can boot at up to 4150 MHz. but it is not stable.

I have my memory timings set at 5-5-5-18 when OCing over 3.8. Actually Orthos dosn't fail, but my system will just shut down and re-start. Do you think that this is caused by RAM failure or something else?

Same thing happens to me, probably just an exponential wall after that frequency. I can almost make 3.9-4 stable but it would require over 1.5v after droop, when 3.8 only needs 1.42.

Just wanted to see if this would work. Without changing any other BIOS settings I dropped vCore slightly from current 1.40 down to 1.39375 and booted with FSB=1600 again.

Machine booted fine and ran Orthos. I stopped it after 15 hours and 41 minutes - I figured that was plenty.

Hi all - I'm new to overclocking, so I've been trying to do as much research as I can based on what everyone's said so far on OCing. I'm planning to get an E6850 for my next build. I'd like to get at least 3.4GHz+ out of it with the stock cooler (unless you think I should get an aftermarket). Here are some quick specs:
E6850
Stock Intel cooler
GIGABYTE GA-P35T-DQ6
2GB A-DATA PC2-6400 5-5-5-18 1.8V
CORSAIR 520W PS (CMPSU-520HX)

I'm open to any suggestions on settings, or if I should be using memory with different timings, etc. Thanks!!

you'd prolly be better for starting a new thread about this it will get more attention

Is there any reason you want to stay with the std cooler?
You could pick up a good zalman 9500 or 9700 cheap.

Stock cooler will ahndle 3.4ghz no doubt but I would still get another cooler.

I dont know anything about that Gigabyte board but someone else here might.

Hi cognoscenti

On your E6850 what is your CPU Vcore, CPU FSB Volts at?
