The E6850 G0 Thread - Page 16

I was going to build a Q6600 with an Asus Commando mobo, until I heard about the E6850 CPU would be a better choice.

The Commando mobo FSB is limited to 1066 megs. Would there be a big increase in performance switching to a mobo that has a 1333 meg FSB?

I have seen some reports saying there isn't much performance increase on a 1333 FSB mobo when the memory is changed from 800 meg DDR2 to 1333 meg DDR3. Would there be a noticeable difference using 1333 meg DDR3 memory instead of 800 meg DDR2 memory?

If buy a mobo has a 1333 FSB, and 800 meg DDR2 memory is used, will the FSB be running at 1333 meg? Would the 800 meg DDR2 memory be a noticeable bottleneck?

4,005 MHz BIOS reads current value: 1.525v BIOS actual :1.480 (if I remember correctly)

Running Orthos right now. 9 minutes and counting, though I think I'm gonna overheat at 8k FFT. I think I'll need a better fan.

I was able to SuperPi it, and broke 13000 on 3DMark06.

Hmm... 30 minutes into Orthos then restarted... Guess I'm still working at full load stability. Blah.

Making some progress after a break.

I found that I could reach 3.724GHz using only 1.4250 vCore. Other voltages in the wordpad in the screenshot. Idle cores at 32-33c with ambient around 22-23c. Max cores under Orthos Small FFTs Pri 9 load was 61c.

Interestingly, I was able to use only 1.9 vDimm to get Linked-Sync (1:1) @827.5MHz memory speed 4-4-4-10-2T. So that's the good news!

4005 MHz. stable @ 1.55 Vcore on air.

Just got my new Ram: 2 Gig of G-Skill Hz's DDR2 800, seems to be OCing well at 890 MHz. with 2.1 Volts.

My old motherboard died the C1 Death, my new RMA board which seems to run a bit more stable and will hit 4004MHz at 1.50 (1.45 actual) vcore and ran Orthos for over an hour though temps were pushing 65-68c with the cool night air. Since then my AS5 has burned in and my temps have dropped at 3.6GHz. Hopefully I'll test 4GHz again tonight and see if I can push it further, but if I don't drop at least 5c load I won't be able to run 4GHz 24/7 until it gets cooler. I have some Shin Etsu on the way, maybe that'll be the ticket!

I've screwed around with my board for over a week trying to figure out how to get 4 gigs out of my chip. nothing...

The max i can get out of it is 3.8 and that is far from stable... when i put this chip in my roommates P5K it hits 4 gigs with little effort...

I am going to get myself an X38 board when there out... screw the nvidia chipsets!!!!

Also, you need to get the latest version of Core Temp. It reads the correct T-junction for these chips, you can find it here: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/
