The true blue flame overclock.net case - Page 10

- Removable Motherboard Tray: You're telling me CM expects us to buy a case for ~$1k and the motherboard try is not removable? It would be nice if it did since it makes this a whole lot easier to work on.
Quote:
- Front Door: What's the point of having an open front end if the painted front door thing is completely solid? Again, not thought out
I was going to post a reply here but realized that I am trying to defend my case to people who cant even do thier research properly.

So I was wrong about two points, shame on me. What do you have to say about my other points?

This really is a waste of time, has nothing to do with OP. But you can take the plexi off or you could use the grill type cover that comes with it. But I am pretty sure those fans are there to blow air onto the gfx cards and mobo (as I have stated several times before). While doing smoke tests the case is a wind tunnel I would put it up against the wind tunnel (ie antec 900). Also I bet just about everybody that purchases a 900 dollar case would probably purchase new fans with better dba ratings anyways as coolermaster isnt known for extremely quiet fans. I checked it out the paint on the case costs at least 120 an ounce, think minimum 6 colors at about an ounce a piece plus primer and about 5 clears on top. I bet in paint alone they spent 250 dollars. Imagine total time put into the actual painting of the case (paint time, sand time, wait time) 8 to 10 hours. If you were fairly skilled what would you charge for hourly wage???
I make about 18 dollars an hour as a service tech, if I could paint like that I would charge probably about 40 an hour. I just said 40 and my buddy started laughing hysterically and he said try double so lets say 60 now lets say you only work for 4 of those 8 hours (60 x 4 = 240) plus paint that equals 590 plus a 250 case = 840 plus free shipping and a warranty (shipping costs if werent free was 130 fed ex) makes 900 not seem so high huh???

EAT I agree with you from every aspect. The fact that the inside of it was not made out of gold is true, but the case is a custom full tower, a super duper custom edition, and as you said, i believe that every drop of that paint is 100x better than the one they put on pimp my ride.

For$900, nobody will give you a crap case, the thing is a beast, and will last 20 years if atx still goes on
post #95 of 98
Lets just end it here. You love your case, that's good at least you didn't spend all the money on something you might regret. I still feel that it's overpriced but don't let me rain in on your parade. Enjoy your case, you might want to consider buying some wax for it.

HP: FYI, it's not a custom case.

Hey, it's his money, it's freedom of choice now isn't it? My friend took me out and bought a $600 Martin, hand built in "Chicago" and it does sounds awesome, yes, but in my opinion, $600 for a piece of wood with strings wasn't worth it. I was still happy for him, even though I would be happier to be playing Madden 08 on a smokin PS3. I didn't judge him, nor nagged him about the money he spent, it's his money, let him spend them the way he wants, even if he wants to suffer, it is not your opinion that matters to EAT right now, but the joy this awesome case brings him.

So people, please stop judging him. I am taking 3 minutes off my precious life to type this out, and stop bothering EAT because $600 for a paintjob is too much, yes it is, but he loves it!

Thanks guys. Mostly was just tired of people telling my money was misspent. Thats a flame and felt obligated to squash it. I dont consider the case custom......yet. I am looking into starting to do the x-fi mod as a sideline for all comers. I am gonna practice a few more times for friends around here before I do it on a larger scale. Thanks again for all the informative posts and those few with an open mind. For all those whose best and most intelligent comment will be 900 for a case?? Waste your time if you want it's a free country. I will have pics up by the end of august for all those interested. By the way anybody have a digi camera for sale mine crapped out shortly after I took the initial build pictures on the case. Not looking to spend much, my money is in building a pc for the wifey. Any ladies have some good ideas for a custom case for a hot mama might be?? Open to any suggestions.

by the way if anyone cares I got 31 of 200. Guranteed to never be reproduced or redistrubited as a limited, special, or any other kind of release. I'm thinking antique road show someday ........hahaha. Comes with letter of authenticity, unfortunately artwork is unsigned. By the way any career artists out there should shout out and let us know what you know about the way true flame is applied. About all I know is its applied backwards, dark to light and usually biggest coverage to smallest.
