Will the Nvidia 8800 bottleneck my rig - Page 4

I'd go for the 8800GTS. There may be some "bottlenecking" happening, but I'd recommend it because you can hang on to it for a while, then possibly upgrade the rest of your components in the meantime when you get around to it.

Well i usualy game at 1.8ghz for stability just in case which is my stock cpu speed. but my Cpu is very competitive against the x2s and at 2.9ghz i can bench 10,000 if i get my ram high ebnough with an 8800gts. you can oc with stock heatsink just watch your temps!

Thanks for the backup Enterprise...
Oh, and I know this may be about more than one topic on the 8800...
But you need to sum it up in the title.
I came in here thinking, what could he want to know about an 8800, turns out it something I really don't feel I know enough about to help. If it had been descriptive, I would have not bothered...
Not meaning to seem to be a jerk, just trying to look out for you (so Enterprise doesn't have to fix more of these type of threads...)
sorry that u wasted your time with getting insite on stuff you are not fimilar with. Isnt that what this site is about?

Your bottleneck will be huge. Your current card says "---" if you are using onboard get the 8800, cause it will still be much better than any 6/7 series card even on your processor, but your scores are not going to be near as high as most people score on the 8 series.
Yup

You can get an 8800GTS for $280 easily on Newegg and it would work in your system excellently. In these times, it is very rare that the video card is the bottleneck because games for more GPU focused and the CPU is less important.

....... This is so wrong =/

Put a 2.8 P4 and a 8800GTX in a system and play a game like HL2 or oblivion, now take it out and put a E6600 in there and see how it plays.

I bet you will think diffferently. The CPU is needed to send information to the GPU, and if the CPU isn't fast enough to do so, the GPU cannot work at its full speed. Almost all games send information to the CPU and GPU. And infact, with upcoming games like Crysis and Alan Wake alot more info is going to be sent the CPU because they support multi-cores.

And noobdown, the TOS also says you must spell correctly and your posts are VERY hard to read. Put a little more effort into typing correctly please. Every other word is a spelling error.

Your question has been answered like 10 times, you were asked to change your title twice and then a mod finally did it, and you have also been asked to spell better. Which you still havn't changed.

Oh my god!... why do I even try to help people...

I am VERY familiar with the 8800s, I just don't know about bottlenecking issues as I don't have one!
I am also familiar with the descriptive titles rule, and now you are too.
The site is about helping people and their computer problems. Most likely, the people that truly know about bottlenecks with an 8800 looked RIGHT over your post because all it said was 8800.

Choggs - I also agree...

It only covers one topic - 8800 bottleneck. And I wasn't dissing as you wish to say, go re-read my first post. This is getting out of hand...
dude/dudette... what the heck?
