New $1600 build on its way!

I just finished ordering my parts from newegg, so here it is:

Case: Antec Nine Hundred - $139.99 (free shipping)

PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W - $209.99 (free shipping)

Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3R - $129.99

CPU: Intel Q6600 G0 stepping (waiting for pre-order from TankGuys) - $316.69 (with tax and 2 day shipping)

Memory: 2x1GB G.Skill HZ DDR2 800MHz - $129.99

Video Card: ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512MB (on its way from a forum member soon) - $180

Monitor: Samsung 226BW 22" Widescreen LCD 2ms - $319.99 (not counting $20 rebate)

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse II - $54.99

Grand Total: $1598.96
(still not counting $20 rebate, but also includes a screw kit and a 1GB Newegg flash drive, together about $15)

My budget was $1500. The monitor is what made me go over, since I decided it was best to go with the Samsung.

Total overkill on the PSU. You should have just gotten a Corsair 520W (saved you $85 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...corsair%2b520w, and is a BETTER PSU imo).

Then, you could have gotten an 8800GTS.

Yea Chozart is right yea the 750 watt can do GTX SLi, but the build look awesome i would suggest you sell it new and you 1900XTX and get a GTS, thats my opinion.

I wanted to buy a PSU that will last me a long time. No point in spending $100-$200 if I'm gonna have to buy a new one for my next build. I'd rather spend $200 once.

I'll be busy with my college classes, so I figured I'd go with a current gen card, rather than "next gen". I'm just gonna have to keep upgrading the video card every year anyways, so why spend $500 every time? haha.

Eep, some spensive prices there. My Antec 900 was $89.99 after MIR, my 700 watt power supply was somewhere around $100... OCZ GameXstream isn't all that bad.

And $319 for a 22"? Newegg has a 22" Samsung for $270 after MIR. And besides that, I'd rather go with the Acer for $240 that has an 800:1 contrast ratio as opposed to a 700:1 found on even the $320 model of the Samsung.

Oh, and the screw kit is probably a waste. The Antec 900 comes with oodles of screws, and most of them are special ones anyway. Then again you might just want the spare screws for other projects, I know they're always useful to have around

Overall nice build, just a tad pricey for my poor self.

Uhohs, I knew I should've overclocked my PSU! It's been bottlenecking my CPU

Yeah, I've got two jobs over this summer, and I just realized that I will have a bunch of money at the end of the summer, not to mention the money my parents will be giving me.

Yep, I got the screws since I thought they would be useful to have, and it'll be a good place to put any other screws I have. Not to mention that the shipping charge basically disappeared since they combined the shipping with my other stuff.

I researched all the 22" screens, and the Samsung was the best (IMO). It's the only one that has a 2ms response, and thus had much less ghosting in the tests. It also looks freakin' awesome! The other Samsung isn't as good, and as for contrast, 700:1 is plenty. Besides, with DCR it has an effective 3000:1 contrast ratio.

(So basically, I just mean to say that I was well aware of the prices on all other 20" and 22" screens, and I made my choice. )

My 750W PSU was so expensive since PC Power & Cooling is reportedly one of the very top companies. Where did you get the Antec 900 for that price?

Yeah, I'm gonna get some cooling later. I'll just run it at stock for a while and see how everything works before I start to mess it up, lol.
