Brisbane 3600 help me oc this!!! - Page 11

Heres how I did mine.

You'll need a piece of glass or mirror aprox. 12in x 12in and the thicker the better.

I didn't have one so I went to Home Depot and got a marble tile.12x12 and about 3/8 thick(one thats ground and polished flat) I got one that was nicked on one edge for a $1

A spray bottle for applying soapy water to the sandpaper.

If your buy the sand paper at the hardware they are 9x11 and you'll need one sheet of each grit.(400,600,1000 and 1500)That will do at least one cooler and CPU.

A flat sturdy table or counter to work on that you can make a mess on.

This is important! You do not need a lot of pressure or speed.A slow movement with light even pressure is best.If you try to move too fast or put too much pressure the CPU or cooler can grab in the paper.

When you do the CPU, I used the square pad of black foam that came in the CPU packaging on top of the pins and pushed on that with two fingers.

A small squirt of dish soap in the spray bottle of water.

Wet the glass, mirror or tile with the soapy water and set the sandpaper on it.The sandpaper will cling to it and won't move unless you push too hard or the CPU or cooler grabs. If it moves a little just put a couple fingers on the edge and hold it.

When sanding rotate what your sanding 1/4 turn every 10 to 20 strokes and use plenty of water.Use the entire surface of the paper don't just sand in one area. Also rinse off the paper in the sink when you notice a build up.That means often.

Start with the 400 grit and sand with it until you get the CPU or cooler completely flat. Then just move to the 600 grit and sand till you have all the 400 grit scratches smoothed out. Then the 1000 grit and finally the 1500 grit.

Once your all set up it will probably only take you about a hour each.

OK, here is the screen shots. I am at 1.4v on the CPU, so a little higher than I thought, but the temps are still 31°C idle and 47°C load.

HT is 4x right now, I have noticed no difference between 3x, 4x and Auto (which was at 2x I think).

My MoBo max FSB is 326/327. Is it supposed to be stable, or just able to post and/ or boot into windows?

FREELINE57, some have said they use styrofoam to stick the cpu pins into to keep them straight when the lap.

blupupher you need 316 FSB to get 3Ghz so I think you might be able to get it.Your memory is stock 5-5-5-15 so I would set it at that with 2T and 2.0v.And try that with the HT multi at 3x and then 4x.You might have to raise your vcore to as high as 1.475v.Try it at 1.4v then 1,425v, then 1.45v and 14.75v until you get it stable. If that won't work maybe bump your memory to 2.1v.All those different combos will keep you busy for a while.Let us know how you make out.

Well my lap job is complete and checked my job against 3x different razor blades and was flat, flat and then installed and fired up..... BO...HO!
Either i mucked up the job or the cooler is not working right. At start up time it read 44/46c. Thats even higher than the first time i installed it! First time it was 42c at start up and it fell a few c's.
So i said ---- this and ripped out the cooler and lapped the second on but i did not use the 400,600,800,1000 i went straight to the microfiber and worked ever bit of them and when i was happy with the outcome i popped it in and fired it up and at start up 37c WOW! now thats even better than the first time i installed the second zalman.
I'll see how much farther it'll drop in the next 100/200 hours. Maybe 33c!!! and i'll be ok with that.

Cool thread, just what I've been looking for, hope you guys don't mind me joining in

Just when I thought I had adequate temps I saw what you guys have and I'm really worried about frying my chip. I know that Brisbane don't report the correct temps, but mine at load hover between 60-75 depending on the oc. The latest bios release for my board supposedly correct this issue, but I'm not really sure if it did.
Speedfan/everest/mbm/abiteq all report around the same temps. Temps only dropped 3-5 degrees when I switched out the stock hs for the xp90, and dropped another 3-4 degrees when I reapplied as5 and put a 120mm fan on the hs. I thought I had good cooling since I thought I had read somewhere to keep temps below 65 at load. Since I had achieved this I decided to up the vcore and memory one step and was finally able to load into windows at 316fsb and see the elusive 3.0ghz.
I ran orthos blend and in less than 2 minutes temps rose up to 75c, with both cores hitting 44 and 42, before I stopped for fear of destroying the cpu. I'd like to test this speed for prolonged amounts of time but am not sure if I need better cooling or if I can keep going with this setup.
Thoughts?

Hello Kuripot!
As you have been reading this thread i have been plagued with the temp issue as well and it's no fun not knowing your true temps. But for me i have come to the conclusion that my temps are reporting 10c higher than they actually are. In between oc's i test with OCCT and i have topped out at 59c for 30 minutes and passed.
I also use digital doc hardware to help watch my temps but for right now i'll stick with my gut feeling which tells me they are actually lower.

As for temp drops if you just reapplied as5 it give it 100/200 hours of hot - cold and you might see it go down 2/3c more.

New problem! I have managed to get to:
CORE SPEED: 2945.1
MULTI: X9.5
HT: 930.0
mem freq: 294.5x2= 589
mem v: 2.0
VCORE: 1.35 / TEMP: 37/38C
Ever since i hit over 2.9 i can't get a windows cold boot when i first start up. I end up rebooting into safe mode then do a restart. After that all is fine and here i am.
Is there anyone that can tell me what i might try? Is my vcore to low? Is my ht to low, at 3x now. Or do i need to try something i haven't thought of? anyone???????
