What do i need for Crossfire?

Hi

Im mainly a nvidia person so i dont know a heap about crossfire, so im wondering what else i need if i already have a X1950PRO and i want to crossfire it - do i need a master card or something?

This card has the SLI style bridge slots on top but has no connecters for crossfire and i know the motherboard has no connecters with it... Which is another thing - will my MSI P35 Platinum support it?

It this card:

except with the SLI style connecters like this one:

The X1950 Pro doesn't need a master card. Just two X1950 Pros, just pick another one up like yours. They usually come with a bridge new, but if not you need one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814999002

The MSI P35 Platinum supports Crossfire so it will work.

Edit: Also it is usually recommended just to get one really good card, like a HD2900XT, then to Crossfire/SLI two lower models.

First you need another identical card and if its the newer style they have a SLI type bridge no stupid dongle connectors anymore. If your mobo has 2xPCI-E slots and its not a nvidia chipset.

You actually need 2 bridges, one comes new in each video card. I learned that the hard way... I used 2 x1950Pros, but one was DOA. Just connect the 2 bridges and set the appropriate options in your ATI Tray Tools.

Your PSU should be able to handle it, too. I'm not positive whether or not the P35 supports crossfire.

This is usually true, but if he already has one card, then it's much more cost effective to get a second card.
