Included "stock" Thermal Grease Adequate?

Thread Starter
I'm looking at my Zalman CNPS 9500 AM2 and it's contents (the rest of my computer doesn't arrive for another week or so) and i noticed that it came with a tiny tube of Zalman zinc-oxide based thermal grease

Thermal Conductivity: 1.2W / mk

the arctic silver 5 that everyone uses "micronized silver" but states that the second ingredient is zinc oxide as another useful ceramic conductor.

Thermal Conductivity: 350000W/ m2(squared)

this seems like a HUGE AND UNPRESEDENTED advantage over the included thermal grease but why would AS5 list their cooling capability for a meter squared? a huge area. and is this the thermal conductivity of the grease or of the micronized silver components?

After some searching i found out that mk stands for meter*kelvins. i don't think the two greases are on the same scale.

would using the included Zalman grease impede my cooling potential significantly? or is it alot of commercial fluff

i really don't feel like ordering $12.45+tax and ship grease.

it does perform a whole lot better, but i'd recommend looking for MX-1 or MX-2 even, if possible. beats AS5 by a few C.

Well if i were to buy any thermal Grease, i could get AS5 for $7.50 shipped (cad) on ebay, and the MX-1 for $12 shipped (CAD), also from ebay, i'd probably go for the ac5 cause it's cheaper and is about the same performance

But why would Zalman sell an expensive cooler and package crappy grease with it (mine's a refurb so it was only 20 bucks+ship)

well, its always the way with every cooler (except the enzotech) - they send it with crappy thermal paste.

get some MX1 - its non conductive, and beats AS5 by a few degrees
