Help with DVDShrink

Thread Starter
hey,

I recently got a new setup, as listed below.
For the last while I have been having trouble opening DVDShrink. It causes my computer to freeze and need to be restarted. The same thing happens when I try and watch video trailers or movies in general.

What I have done so far.
-Completely wiped my HDD and re installed windows and all drivers with their original disc's

could it also be effecting it because im using an older Seagate Barracuda, thats still IDE and my CD Rom is also IDE as well. I have tried changing which one is set as the master, and currently have switched it to the HDD with the ROM as the slave.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And I also have another HDD that I could swap and check, but don't want to go through another windows install unless its deemed necessary

Programs freezeing could be caused by faulty RAM, give memtest86+ a go to ensure that your RAM is running ok.

Could you try unplugging the IDE HDD or is that your boot drive?

It sounds like dvd shrink is getting confused about which source drive to use.

If you are using vista, it may not like your dvd drive...

ok, I tried running memtest86, by creating a bootable .iso with memtest on it.

All i get is this message, I waited about 5-10 min and nothing happened so i restarted the computer and removed the disc.

message:

1.FD 1.44MB system type (00)
starting caldera DR - DOS

EMM386 3.27 copyright 1992,1998 caldera inc.

is this correct, or should there be something else happening. I've never run the program before so some help is appreciated.
