Asus P5K Deluxe Sound Issue

Thread Starter
I have a weird problem with my onboard sound on this board... well actually, the sound is fine. It is the mic that is the problem. I get really bad interference from the mic. Basically I fired up Ventrilo and did a test, but all I can here is really bad static, and my voice is very very feint in the background... Vent is setup exactly the same as my old motherboard... I have the latest Soundmax drivers and have flashed to the latest bios. I have also ruled out the mic as the problem as it is as clear as day on my old board... Like I said the sound output is perfect, but the mic is crap... and i'm beggining to get frustrated

Anyone know of any issues?

Cheers.

100% positive... I plugged it back into my FX60/DFI and it is 100% clear with zero interference.
I noticed that the wireless riser card sits right next to the mic jack at the back, could that have anything to do with it... but then again the output sound is totally fine.... arrrrrggggghhhhh

I hate not being able to fix things... really gets to me lol.

I thought the Music was not being sold anymore... may have to do some searching

... not being sold anymore? heh. just look a little harder. ive got mine for just a few weeks, so i doubt they'd be discontinued.

in any case, i cant think of anything else than crappy onboard if you're sure its not the mic or interference. (it IS onboard after all...)

BTW to be sure theres no interference (from GFXcard and such), i left my card inside the anti-static bag it came in (cut holes for the heatsink and PCI contacts) and taped it to the card. even it doesnt help, it cant hurt.
so maybe you could try it with the onboard sound chips and cables.

Well, I thought what the hell, went and bought a X-Fi Gamer (they had no Musics in stock and i wanted it 2day)... Guess what... sound (including the mic is 100%)

As no1 else seems to have had this problem im guessing its my board... But the X-fi is so amazingly better that im not gonna rma the board... im just NEVER using onboard again... It is ridiculously better quality... even Vista Startup sounds loads better lol.
