Purchasing New ATi Card - Page 2

Tom's hardware best graphics card for the price

I would have to say though. It's probably best to keep your $100 and save it till you can get a better system (core 2 duo, ddr2, 8800/2900 << afterall its the ati forrum ).

I say this simply because your x850xt isn't much worse than some of these <$100 cards...

Overclock it to 450/590 (XT PE Speeds)

The X1650XT is definatly the best video card for under $100 as it's a stripped down X1950Pro.

If you're going to waste money on an x1650xt, you might as well spend an extra $9 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102700 and get a 2600xt--same abilities (a bit more, a bit more on-par with a x1950pro), plus it's a DX10 card, and likely easily beats a 16xx series card in gameplay and benchmarks. It's not that I would say that the x16xx series cards are bad, just not worth the money if you're hoping for great performance. Just 'cause a x1650xt is described as a cut-down x1950pro doesn't mean it's going to perform as good as a x1950pro. I was disappointed with my previous x1650--it doesn't have a good bang/buck value IMHO. Anyway, maybe I'm just feeling a bit pessimistic right now. I still suggest against getting the x1650 and instead think about the 2600--only $9 more and likely much better performance (see the x2600xt review in the ATI forum--stats are on-par with a x1950pro).

What res do you game at?

Looks like he's using a 19" LCD, My guess is 1280 x 1024 (4:3) Which is mediumish. (lol)

I was looking at this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102068 and thought that it was good. If you have any advice or a better video card to post for around $100 please do tell. Thanks!
If you have a good PSU, which I didn't check the PC specs for you, and have 44 more dollars, go with a x2600 because it is either dx10 and better

that's for a tiny 19" wide screen, I was thinking 19" 4:3 "full screen"
