like how to prevent cyclic redundancy check data errors (CRC Errors)
coz i noticed on shallowthought that this is starting to happen, i first noticed it when one of the torrents i was downloading crazhed windows to a BSOD, restarted and uTorrent gave the message of Error: cyclic redundancy check data error. i "****inggoogleit" and found my HDD was failing, and it adviced to STOP using it, not how to fix it, or how to prevent it, just STOP using it lol so wondering if u guys can advice on how to fix/prevent/repair CRC errors

P.S i ask because i dont want this to happen to deepthought

Nothing you can do. Just get a new one and back-up your old one.

CRC errors are usually due to a corrupt download. When downloading, there is a check digit that is used to verify that the download is probably ok. I would check your firewall, virus, router, apps as well.

Use SMART to check your HD.
Once again...

Most drive manufacturers have their own testing tools.

WD Diagnostics, Sea Tools etc...

If you burn yourself an UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD), it will have the major manufacturer's tools on it. Otherwise, they should be available for download... if its for the Seagates in your sig:
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/sup...loads/seatools

for WD:
http://support.wdc.com/download/

if its something else, lemme know if you can't find it...
