Quick db-1 pump question --

Thread Starter
I know it's not the strongest pump out there, but I like the price and was told it was pretty good.

But, would a 3-fan rad (MCR-320 or GTS 360) on a CPU only loop be OK for it? What about when I throw my GPU in the loop? That'd work?

I don't want to cut corners, but I'd like to save money where I can...

I don't know how good that would be on anything but a CPU only loop with a real free-flowing block like a Fuzion...I wouldn't skimp on the pump or the block...This is a pretty good pump for a little cheaper...It doesn't quite have as much performance as the D-5 but its close, and it has less heat-dump to which is always good...These are supposed to be one of the best pumps to run 2 in series because of the low heat-dump they have...

Alright -- thanks. (AGAIN )

I'll probably go for a D5 instead of that pump, though, since it's only ~$5-$10 more at most places.

Yeah a db-1 is a good single block/rad pump, here are some numbers for reference; Rule of thumb - Keep it above 1 GPM, preferrably 1.5 or better...more the better, but only marginal gains above 1.0.
  • db-1, D-tek Fuzion, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 1.02 GPM
  • db-1, D-tek Fuzion, GTS240, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 0.90 GPM
  • db-1, D-tek Fuzion, MCW-60, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 0.84 GPM
  • Auqua Extreme 50Z, D-tek Fuzion, MCW-60, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 1.3 GPM
  • D5 Variable, D-tek Fuzion, MCW-60, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 1.47 GPM
  • DDC3.2 w/ Petra Top, D-tek Fuzion, MCW-60, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 1.54 GPM
  • Iwaki RD-30, D-tek Fuzion, MCW-60, MCR320, 7' of 7/16" Tubing, T-line = 2.51 GPM

Had to slip that Iwaki in there , those things are a bit on the extreme side..

The 50Z is a good pump, but if you decide on the D5, get the variable version, the basic model is stuck at setting 4 which is probably fairly close to the 50Z's performance.

Sorry for the clutter, I probably ought to split out some of these pumps, but this is what I have in my flow rate estimator at the moment:
