Crazy idea (could save amd)

okay i just thought about something and it probably isnt true but it seems to make sense to me and it could mean amd survives and surges past intel. okay so old intel single core processors got 6 ops/cycle. but when they went native dual core it doubled to about 12 ops/cycle. what if the same thing happens with amd going from 9 ops/cycle on native dual core to 18 ops/cycle for native quad? i realize it is probably just a coincidence that the ops/cycle of intel cpu's double with the number of native cores but it might not be. and if the new amd cpu's can pull 18 ops/cycle than the 2 ghz chip we are expecting would be equivelent to a core 2 quad @ 3ghz which would be much more impressive than people are anticipating. just some food for thought

No it's not that it has twice as many cores, it's the actual way in which the core was designed. Also that 6/9/12 is approximate.

Example: The C2D run much faster than a similar clocked Pentium Dual Core but they both have 2 cores.

I somehow doubt that Intel will be kicking on the eve of 3001 (millenniums start on the "1" year). However, it's just Moore's Law in action.
