Overclocking Q6600 air

Thread Starter
HI I was wondering if I could overclock a Q6600 to 3.2 or 3ghz with a BigTyphoon. There is a 25cm side fan on the case. Most likely I'm getting the P5K Deluxe mobo.

it all depends on the chip and your mobo. It could not be said for sure in any circumstance. Its all trial and error so if you try and run into problems we can try and help you but thats about it. Generally you should be able to hit 3 but the temps might start to cause problems. And whether its a G0 or not can make a difference

Do you have a B3 Q6600 or a G0? B3 is the old one before the price drop. G0 is from after the price drop and the box with say SLACR...

G0 could easily reach that.

Not only that but the P5K has had excellent results with quads and temperatures.

I think even if you have a B3 you could achieve that speed fairly easily. That big typhoon should take care of you nicely.

I say go for it.
