Yeah I got that part but my seagate 320gb isn't working properly. In bios it sees it and even when I'm messing with the raid option it shows up but if I try to set another raid. But it doesn't even show up if I wanted to reinstall windows onto it or when I'm in windows it doesn't show.

Sorry going off topic, I'll make my own thread.

No worries, we're having close to the same issues, and we have the same board

And as far as your HD goes, that's interesting, I only had the problem of windows not seeing my drives before I set up my RAID successfully

Bleh. I froze my HD for a couple of hours, gave it a shot and it's still tickin'. Oh well, no worries, RMA is sent.

heh, hopefully things work out. I will probably just sell my seagate then if I can't figure it out soon. Almost 300gbs is enough for me anyways.

When I first got my 250GB external, I thought the same thing.

Boy was I quickly proven wrong...

I decided just to use this thread instead of making a whole new one...

A few weeks ago when I was in Europe, my HP laptop primary HD crapped out on me for reasons I don't know. I tried a fresh install and neither vista nor xp saw the HD.

I just opened up my laptop and to my suprise they were SATA. I then threw it on my desktop and I am now writing zeros on it. I'm seriously contemplating trying to RAID my two 80GB laptop HD's. There's no reason it can't be done, correct?

And if it's possible, would it be possible to set up an array when they're in my laptop? Maybe flashing my BIOS.

Discuss pl0x

Unless there is an onboard Raid controller than it cant be done . . well

There are software controlled but I think that they are **** for the performance gain.

An array with those on your desktop should be plausible though.

Assuming the laptop supports RAID the process is the same to set it up as for a desktop..

No, I don't believe the laptop's mobo supports RAID, I would be ridiculously surprised if it was.

Is there absolutely any gain from a software controlled RAID array?
