Prescott 2.4A Corrupts System Files on Small Overclock

So when I tried to overclock my Pentium IV Prescott 2.4A it corrupted a lot of system files after it hit 2.7GHz and my system refused to boot. I had to reinstall Windows. Maybe this might be caused by my cheap ASRock P4V88 motherboard? ASRock said it had some HybridBooster technology or whatever it is that's supposed to help overclocking. I need to know what I did wrong. I want to overclock this CPU because I think it might be bottlenecking my X1650XT Turbo and it might help with physics in games. I want to reach at least 3GHz.

you need to lock the pci bus at 33mhz.

Or else it will corrupt the pci bus which will corrupt the hard drive.

If you cannot lock the pci bus well.......overclocking will be hard

Thanks, if I do that it probably won't commit seppuku?

Also how is your overclocked 9600XT doing in modern games? Overclocking older harder is interesting.

no it shouldn't.

My card can play most new games on low at 1024x768 and get decent FPS (30ish).

But I don't really play new games Only old ones...

Oh no! There doesn't seem to be a PCI Bus option! I can't even modify the FSB speed anymore.

Must be that new BIOS...

Is there any tool to help me lock the PCI Bus and overclock my CPU? Or maybe I can unlock the BIOS features, if they exist?
