CPU, RAM, Video OC - need advice!

Thread Starter
I plan to OC my system but I need to know if there is anything else I need to do/know or if anything else could be recommended.

System Build:

DFI nForce 590 SLI
Athlon X2 5600 (Plan to OC 3.0Ghz)
Gigabyte 8800 GTS 640 (Plan to OC to 600Mhz)
G-Skill 2GB DDR2-800 (Plan to OC to 2.0v)
WD SE 250GB SATAII 3.0GB/s

Is there anything else I need/should OC in order to get stable/best performance out of my system? (such as mabey the FSB, HTT, etc...?)

Or would it be fine to just OC the CPU, RAM and Video?? Thanks.

Iverieli, looks good. Like iampoor said, go with the 3600, its cheaper and it oc's fairly well. Good luck

I'm not too savvy on AMD systems but my 2cents is to leave the video card alone, its kind of risky and if you ruin it by chance you'll be a very sad panda.

GPUs will ALWAYS be bottlenecked by CPUs, so I would say get your RAM/CPU onpar (Sp?) with the Video card for smoother performance.

If you OC the video card theres no way the rest of the system will ever be able to keep up, but thats just my opinion.

That is actually a good point. But...do you think there will be a significant enough of a bottle neck running dual 3.0Ghz processors and 2GB of high speed memory??

I think it will be minimal, what do you guys think?

I don't know much about overclocking video cards, but the 8800 640MB is a BEAST. Overclocking it will definitely improve your benchmark scores, but it's not going to make your gaming experience any better. What are those puppies going for now, like $350? I'd play it safe and leave it be.

Thats a very good mobo and set of memory, you should be able to overclock a lot. If you already bought the 5600, no worries its a great processor and you should be able to hit 3 GHz np. But if you haven't bought it yet, I agree with iampoor that a 3600 Brisbane for $62 or a 4000 Brisbane for $70 would be a good move. At half the cost of the 5600, they should get up to 3 GHz as well with that board.

Thanks durch. Those CPU's are great but the problem is I need my 2x1MB L2 Cache which comes with the X2 5600 Windsor.
