WD 36Gb Raptor question

Thread Starter
I have 2 10,000 Raptor HDDs. They are not used in a RAID array. I have my OS on 1 partition, then a Swap Partition, then a Program files Partition. The other HDD is for Photoshop and the photoshop scratch disk. When I run Sandra my HDDs show up slower than 7200 RPM IDE drives, ATA 150s etc.

What gives, and what can I look at to see where the hold up may be?

TIA

I got the HDDs when I built my Computer. The WD 80 was a leftover from an old computer and the Seagate 300 is just storage.

How so are they slower? In my PC, compared to my other WD 320 gb 7.2k RPM drive, it has a lower transfer rate. But also has a lower random access time. Both are according to sisoft's sandra.

So, isn't the lower random access time better than having a higher random access time and higher bandwidth?
