Intel Xeon LGA 775 Quad Cores from $260 @ the egg

The Xeon 3200 series processors

I'm not sure if you guys know about these, but for all the hype of Q6600 price drops to $300, I'm surprised our forums aren't flooded with X3200 topics.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE
NOTE: Newegg has them incorrectly labeled as "Dual-Core" but they are in fact quads. Probably so they can sell us the Q6600s...

I'm not sure about the compatibility with all motherboards, I will look further into this.

UPDATE: I have found that someone used this CPU (The X3210) with "Asus P5B Deluxe BIOS 1004"

Part II:

Upon further reading of Google searches of "X3210 support" and "X3210" and such, it is known to work (and achieve 2.9 GHz) with an Abit QuadGT. One link said the G0 stepping procs would need a BIOS update.

General discussion, CPU-Z verified 2.92 GHz

Yeah they are listed in the deals section. Its a good option and hopefully the 3210 at the egg are G0's but you cant be sure however they just listed them today so maybe.

They are far cheaper at other places, I have a x3220 ordered thats $294 shipped. You can get the 3210 for around 245 to 250 if you look.

Its just the 32 series (the quads) that are at the good price. The 3220 which is the same as the Q6600 is the same price if not a tad cheaper at most places.

The 3210 which has a 8 multi (basically the quad 6400 series that was suppose to comeout) and it is drastically cheaper. For the price if your not worried about maxing out on the 8 mutli the 3210 is a great buy.

I jsut want the 9 mutli myself for ocing but oh well.

Yeah I see. The good Xeon Server CPUs are still priced to destroy my funds. I was musing the idea of an Octo Core station.

madmax, did chozart have the x3210 and said it overclocked pretty crappily? I think he could only get it to 2.8-2.9 or something like that. I'm think of getting it myself, have you tried overclocking the thing?

EDIT: Audi, you;re finally making the move to the 8 seires? haha, that won't work out for ya. I guess you can put acard in each slot on the deluxe, i wish I had that option.
