cheapest video card avaliable. - Page 6

Vista without Aeros, 1GB of Ram, and a $15 graphics card with 2 monitors. You're parent's priorities are all f'd up. I would stick with XP, get 2GB of Ram, something like a 6300LE (for graphics), and sell one monitor.

that's just me.

You must of ran at a very low resolution and/or graphics. I get out of memory errors with 2GB while gaming on max graphics and had to add another 2GB.

Keep in mind I game on 1920x1200.

But you numbers don't add up, because Vista uses over 500MB of ram even tweaked. So there is no way you had 500mb free at all times. Unless of course vista was using less memory just to save your memory. At 2GB vista was using 600MB for me, and at 4GB it uses 700MB.

id say, if your only willing to pay 7$(exagerated, but not by much.) for a gfx card, i cant see another monitor.

maybe they have old crt's at the good-will store nearest you.

and i dont understand why you'd even want to play with vista, i mean everyone here is right, you basically NEED 2 gigs of ram for it, otherwise there is really no point, and if your not using aero, why bother, theres really nothing vista has to offer over xp, or even winblows 2000, other than the aero interface.

im using vista ultimate with 2 gigs of ocz special ops ram, and im very tempted to get another 2 gigs, in the near future..... but thats just me.

im sure you can find some third gen stuff, with onboard everything for very cheap, that will do whatever your parents want to do, scrap the dual display idea, and the vista idea, and find a mb with onboard video,sound,lan... heck maybe even scrap the idea of pci-x 16 altogether. get a third gen board with agp, or even pci..... and go with a pci card.

i dunno what else to say. you ask for advice, and argue almost all the points the guys give out.

I have to agree with him. It's like you want the advice and you don't. It seems you've already had your mind made up about what you're going to do before you even asked for advice.

no.

I'm just sick of all these guys who are like "you NEED 2 gigs of ram".

Also I said dual monitors was NOT likly and even if they did they wouldn't be using any of the advanced display features

Just because I don't agree with your opion dosn't mean I "don't want advice"
