looks good

Best Buy had an Acer 22" wide screen for $190, the same price as the 19" you picked out. Other than that In my opinion it looks like a nice setup.
Ps I can understand if the resolution is the reason you choose the 19".

I'm changing the monitor right now....

Also that RAM is only 30$ after rebate not 45$ so jumping to 2gigs will cost about 40$ which I do not want to do .

If it was 20$ I would definitly do that

If they're not doing anything with their computer like you seem to say, why not get them a $550 laptop and use the extra $100 on a nice wireless setup. That way they can get more enjoyment out of their limited investment. Here's a refurb with dual core and Vista premium.

You can always just get one 1gb stick, it's cheaper and if you want to upgrade it would be easier later on, for vista or something.

It says it's $45 on newegg with that link? My ram was 34 dollars each stick and it comes with a nice green heatspreader

- Ram prices have gone up just a little bit since I bought mine;
