What's the main differences between the various X-FI models?

I'm just curious what the differences are between the XtremeGamer, XtremeMusic, and Platinum models. Are they all basically the same just marketed differently?

Well, it's easy if you start from the beginning.

XtremeGamer: no frills - low profile. Just EAX5.0 and good sound quality. Not upgradeable

XtremeMusic: A full profile card that is expandable (with breakout boxes) and upgradeable (by modding opamps). Sound quality should be the same as XtremeGamer since they use the same DACs and opamps (I'm actually not positive on the opamps thing.

Platinum: An XtremeMusic bundled with the front panel breakout box.

XtremeGamer Fatal1ty: An Xtrememusic with 64MB of XRAM

Fatal1ty FPS: The above with the front panel breakout box

Elite Pro: A Fatal1ty with better DACs and analogue output and an external breakout box.

I'm not a big audiophile so I guess I'm looking at either the XtremeMusic or the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty as the 64mb of xram sounds like it may come in handy some day. The front panel deal doesn't do much for me. Reps for all, thanks for the input.

Honestly, the XRAM does very little. Especially since you already have dual core and 2GB of RAM.

I'd go with the XtremeMusic. You can still find it at frys.com
