Data Corruption

Thread Starter
Yesterday it was really bad, no matter how many times I downloaded the nvidia driver, it was always corrupt on the same spot. Take it to any other computer, and it works fine.

I found that adding +.1v to the memory fixed it instantly. Or so I thought. Today I've been getting a little more. Random installers say they are corrupted, but if you try a second time they might work, or might not.

I ran orthos, it's stable for 10 hours. I just ran memtest, it completed a pass without flaw. I ran a HDD error check, it reported nothing. I reinstalled windows, didn't help at all.

What's causing this?

Ok, thanks for all the great help and suggestions

I downloaded seatools for windows, and it fails both the short and long tests, nearly instantly. I hope I don't have a bad hard disc drive.

I'm gonna try going back to stock and see what that does.

Well, seatools for windows said to run seatools for dos if you get errors, because apparently the dos one can fix them. Well I ran the dos one and it says no errors. I go back to windows, and it says errors again

Well I'm running chkdsk right now.

Okay, I did an all night cmos reset with the battery out, and only re programed settings like the date and raid. I didn't touch the overclocking section.

All 3 of my drives still fail the drive self test, and are getting constant errors in chkdsk. Bad motherboard, or...?

Have you installed windows while overclocked?

I got errors like this when I have a bad install of windows.

Have you locked your PCI/PCI-E bus speeds? Just a thought, though I'm sure you're experienced enough to have remembered this.

Okay, here's the current status.

I'm only running at stock speed, never overclock throughout all this, and the pci express bus is locked at 100mhz.

So far I've tried two raid controllers now, the gigabyte and intel one. Both produce exactly the same results. I have tried with my friends memory too, same there as well.

I'm starting to think it might actually be one of my hard drives. The next step for me to take will then be taking them out of raid and installing windows on one, then the other. Also then I can use SMART which is always disabled in raid.

Ugh, 4 windows installs in 2 days, and more to come, how fun
