Opteron 165 Weird Voltage

Thread Starter
well, I'm not having ANY system trouble at all. But my voltage on the CPU jumps from 1.344 to 1.399 and sometimes stops around 1.376, I've gamed so many hours like this so I've figured there wasn't any problem in this. One of my friends tried to convince me otherwise. Temperatures are fine, 38C idle, 44 normal load, 52 Full load (both cores maxed). My cousin said if it starts up, runs normally and under harsh conditions with the temperature in good shape, then it's fine. What's your guys' opinions?

It's fine. Mine does the same thing.

I believe there is a 5% tolerance for "safe" voltage fluctuations from what it's set at.
might be your mobo... is it possible that it has bad voltage regulation? or maybe your psu?
Sounds like vdroop maybe? My voltage will drop a little under load not really fluxuate at all just up then down under load then up at idle.

EDIT: Sorry you said its higher oops didn't read post good enough=\\

what i was thinking as well.

currently i'm getting fluctuations from 1.376-1.409. i've got it set at 1.40 in BIOS, been at that setting for a good year now with no hiccups

I was thinking that it was just pulling what it needs. I have a cheaper psu, but it has virtually no load on it beyond the CPU, RAM, and peripherals (my power hog, the X1950XT, runs on it's own PSU). My CPU is not OC'd at all, it's ran stable at 1815.3MHz for a little over a year now no problems. Thanks for your input guys!
