yesterday i installed my motherboard without thinking, i was supposed to wait until my cpu cooling came and then hook up the brackets under the motherboard . so do u know of any heatsinks that doesn't need a fastener. the socket is lga775

Arctice freezer heatsink doesn't need one i don't think....

But most higher end coolers DO need a backplate, Tuniq Tower, Ultra 120 Extreme, GeminII, ect...

It's no big deal to unscrew the motherboard, unless yours screws like to be stupid like mine lol.

That cooler is not that bad and the rpm is fast enough but isf i was you i would buy something with a little bit more power

With the stock Intel fan and Heatsink I was idling at 57 C if I was lucky. I bought this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835150056 and instantly dropped down to 31 C at idle. Now I'm overclocked from 3.0 to 3.3 and with a good air conditioner in my room I idle as low as 26 C!
