Please help with Gigabyte DS3

Thread Starter
Seems to be working right, but when I set the FSB, when it reboots it sets it back to disabled and runs at stock. C1E is disable, and something else that was in the bios is disabled. Why is this happening?

I tried to update BIOS via internet so I didnt' have to hook up the floppy drive, and it seemed to work. It now sets my FSB to 200 for the C2D e2160 chip. I think it still says F2 instead of F12 (the newest BIOS) when it's booting up. How can i tell if the Bios updated on this board? Thanks.

Means it won't boot. Without a system speaker, you don't know why. DON'T use @BIOS to flash, use a floppy or a flash stick.

OCZ ddr2 800 memory

I am also getting an error for the video card or for the ati catalyst when it boots up, .mom not found or something. I think re-installing will fix this, but i dont' think it's related...but maybe?

ahh, i'll have to hook up the speaker. Ok, thanks.

I haven't found where I could use a USB to flash the bios. I think you have to have a floppy with this one

1. Switch off the PSU, open the case and pull the battery, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in.

2. Enter CMOS Setup, Go to Advanced. Disable:

Bit Execute
EIST
CIE
Thermal Monitoring
Power saving all that crap.

3. Go to PC Health and Enable CPU Fail Warning, Disable Fan Control Method (always 100% this way)

4. Go to MIT

-Enable Clock Speed control and set it to 9000000 (just kidding, be reasonable)
-Memory Multiplier @ 2.0
-PCIe @ 100Mhz (Not Auto)
-Make sure you're getting enough juice to the RAM (If it's rated @ 2.0v you need to set DIMM to +0.2v as the DS3 gives out 1.8v at stock)

4. There is no second 4.

5. Hit F10

Well, yeh. And it's setting the ram automatically based on the multiplier. Is there something special about this Gigabyte board? I'm just upping it to about 220 fsb from 200, but CPUZ still shows it at 1.8 GHz (stock), and then when i reboot I see that it's set itself back to 200 Mhz FSB and disabled the OC

That's where I start at usually. Leave the timings auto and if you can POST but not load windows give the RAM 0.1v more. If you can't post increase the CPU's Voltage. I started at 1.4v to give me room and then backed it down to 1.375v

Still no luck. I'm posting this from the computer. It still says BIOS F2 when it's starting up.

So, is using a floppy drive the only way to flash BIOS on these Gigabyte's? Can't use USB? That stinks. I reckon I'll try to remember how to hook up a floppy drive. Haven't used one in about 4 years.
