BIOS Problem

Thread Starter
After I installed my DVD writer when i try to enter the BIOS, it asks me to select a boot device if i pick one(CD writer, DVD writer, HD, floppy, or SCIdevices?) it will load like normal. If i just press esc it will look up too. But i can get in the BIOS.

Thanks for any useful input.

Check your motherboard manufacturer's website. Search their knowledge database or forums. Someone else has had the problem in the past.

But from what I know, thats very strange for the BIOS to lock up as the result of some kind of change in peripherals. Driver conflict?

Have you been able to access BIOS before?

Maybe try unplugging the new drive and going into BIOS and there should be an option in the first BIOS section where you can choose what errors to be notified of. I have mine set to warn me about everything except my diskette. You may want to try turning off all error warnings.

Again, your mobo manufacturer will have a more detailed way to do this, and a correct way for certain :-D.

have you tried to uninstall the DVD writer to see if the problems still persist?
