oh Jesus, ok, you could put the aluminum in the microwave, as long as there is something else in there to absorb the reflected radiation.

second, if your cleaning Al, id use acetone, its what people actually use in med labs, it will wash everything away, and acetone evaporates very rapidly, also it has a horribly low surface tension, so you really don't need much.
