HELP! E6850 or Q6600 w/G0 stepping?

Thread Starter
Ok, I already preordered my Q6600 with G0 stepping from TankGuys, now I'm thinking of canceling my order and getting an E6850. The reason is I've heard that the Q6600 does not OC well with my current Mobo and I don't really want to upgrade my Mobo just yet. I do plan an playing Crysis and other games designed for quad cores, but honestly what processor will I be happier with? The E6850 runs at 3.0ghz stock and I think it has an unlockable multi? Is this correct? Anyway, please help I must finalize payment for the Quad very soon, and don't want to regret it!
Thanks

honestly bro, id go quad so you dont have to later..get it out of the way and youll be good for a while!

Once games start utilizing the quad core, the Q6600 will dominate the E6850 if both of them are at stock. So this is what I'd do. Either get the Q6600 or keep your E6600 and wait for Penryn. It doesn't seem to make since to go from a E6600 to a E6850.

Go for the Q6600 for future proofing.

Whats wrong with your E6600? Only thing I could see that would really improve your performance would be to go Quad.

Well if he doesn't think his motherboard will overclock a Q6600 good, then go with the E6850. This is kind of a pointless thread because theres 2 choices. If the motherboard won't be good for the quad then go dual core.

Don't tell ME it's pointless, tell him. I'm just wonderin' if any of ya bothered to read his totally valid motherboard argument.

A lot of people are going to have the old board - new chip issue.
