Sometimes the jumper is easier to reset than taking out the battery, so you can try that instead of having to take out your peripheral cards. This is the case with my P5N32-E SLI.
You don't have to run the RAM at 1:1; you can go with a lower ratio until you get the most out of your CPU possible and then simply increase your RAM as high as possible after that.
