Yeah, "vista incapable" makes it sound like, "The product isn't good enough to run on vista, but it can at least run on Linux," making Linux sound inferior.

Remote desktop... something?

Well I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm not sure about what package managers and stuff it uses, though. I've only played with it for like a day, but it had a much greater first impression than Ubuntu. So I can't really comment on the technical stuff, just what came with it.
