I hope the below will help Crytek fix this problem. I would like to buy the game in a good state....So I can only help the below will help.
I have added a Poll above..Please vote as it may show what could potentially be causing these issues as I have a hunch it is the ATI driver...lets see what the poll says !
Crysis Beta can corrupt your operating system. It has been said by others and I can now confirm it.
I have just had to reinstall Windows Vista. I was playing away on Crysis and my system Automatically restarted, I then was greeted with a message that a VITAL system file was now missing or corrupt and I had to do a repair. However the repair did not work for me either. This has now happend twice as I wanted to test it....Its definately Crysis.
This is no lie. It seems that the Crysis Beta can indeed cause some kind of corruption to system files/Drivers which can render your OS damaged or useless as it did with mine. I am not sure how the Beta damages the OS,however at an educated guess it is interacting with system files it should not be interacting with, to what kind of interaction with system files I am not sure if its Writing or deleting them...however its doing something along those lines to cause this.
It seems this has happend to a few people now. To whome it has not happend to I would reccomend taking extreme caution....as it could happen at anypoint it seems.
It was nice while it lasted. However I will not play it again until its out of Beta as I want my OS intact. I felt I needed to warn you guys.
OS and data > Crysis.
Please Crytek fix this problem...its not good . Its a pitty as I liked the Beta , until this.
As I have said below :
All in all users of Crysis Beta need to be aware of this potential danger. If you you dont feel like reinstalling your OS in any way shape or form then I would avoid this beta release for now. Thats just my opinion.
@ Crytek ( If you are watching the web ). and viewers .This is not slander of any kind, I however MUST point out to others the potential risk. I am not the kind of person to sit back and let this happen to others. It seems your Beta is interacting with Operating systems in a way that it should not be from what I can understand at current. Please read the WHOLE of this thread as you will learn it is not just me having problems with the Beta.
Just for your info this is more apparent in Vista but does happen in XP also.
Oh and on another note. Crytek if you see this thread for whatever reason I would just like to express my complete and utter dissapointment in you. I know it was a Beta....yer thats fine but its not suppose to remove my Operating system...Twice. * Sighs at Crytek for all time *
To other forums watching this I will state to you now that my system is rock solid stable and all games and drivers were working fine until Crysis Beta. May I also remind you I tested this Beta on a fresh install of windows again after the 1st incident and surely enough the same thing happened again. Also this is not a localized incident ..this is happening to others also. My system also runs at STOCK no overclock on any component. Like I said my system is fully stable !
**UPDATE**
It seems that every issue that I have come across like mine or perhaps less severe seems to involve ATI hardware. Thus I am beginning to beleive that its an ATI Driver incompatiblity with Crysis and causes system instability. I cannot confirm this, however ATI users be extra cautious it seems.
Thanks guys for all your info. Keep it coming.

I do not want to spoil anything for anyone...Some people have had my problem and some have not...However I beleive all systems are at risk from this BUG. Its at your own risk like any beta software..however I did not expect it to destroy the whole OS lol. Just becareful guys. |

I can say this much, I got a key from someone on here because of this thread. The very first time running crysis... system crashed. When it went to boot back up, chkdsk ran and found a few hundred errors. This is on a brand new install of Vista, I just built the computer, which is why I figured it was worth the risk.
Everything IS running fine now without reinstalling anything, but with all the errors it found I kinda think I should reinstall anyway just to avoid problems in the future. I have palyed it numerous times since with absolutely no issues, which is strange. But it's almost ironic that I got the key from this thread, and the first run just about takes my OS down!! |

I really think there is something to this. I have been having crazy issues with my PC since I installed the 3rd release now. When I try to close out of the game it goest to black and just sits there until I do a hard shutdown. Then on the re-boot vista want to check my drive for erros and always seems to find errors.
All other games & softeware are fine just the Crysis demo. Man I hope this is all worked out before they release it. By then I will be too busy playing HL2 episode 2 anyways, lol. |
