best fan speed and temp monitor?

Hello again all

i have an issue with my current temps/fan speeds

my mobo came with easy tune 5 and it shows me my cpu temp/fan speed and my case temp/fan speed.

i also have speedfan and it shows me my hard drives temps and my core temp. but does not show anything else

the issue is that they both show temp. that are sometime 10 or more degrees different and i don't know which one to trust .. so i was wondering if anyone knows of any good program to monitor fan speeds , and temps that will be more exact ?

The short answer is no.

The only real guaranteed temperature you can get is the one from physically placing a probe against the CPU. All temps (even BIOS) are less than perfectly reliable.

The BIOS is generally regarded as being the most reliable, but then there are exceptions to that also.

As far as the Windows temp reporting software, the reliability/accuracy has a lot to do with how well the software supports your particular chipset. Some motherboards are very accurate, some are not with any of the software's.

It's a good idea to be aware of this when trying to figure-out what your temps are doing. I would trust the BIOS temp.

If a software is (for example) 2 degrees higher at idle than what the BIOS reports, I would assume at least that 2 degree difference on everything else the software reports. For the most part I think it's less relevant, because the only reason why you want to know the "real" temperature is to avoid killing the CPU. You shouldn't even be getting close to that temperature ever, so the real temp doesn't matter.

The primary purpose for the temp software is to track/monitor temp CHANGES.

If it's 5 degrees hotter on this OC, that means something. If it's 4 degress cooler with this case fan, that means something else.

The actual temperature doesn't matter, but the changes in the reported temperatures do.
