Looking great! That paint is going to be amazing, and this is going to be one clean case. I really should of forked over the extra cash and bought it

That idea for mounting the 120.1 radiator...wow!

My advice is, if you get a minute, right up a short guide on it using the pictures - I can see that taking off very quickly

Great work as always Syrillian, man am I in a modding mood now

Thread Starter
I test mounted the single 120mm radiator to see how it would sit in the bays.

If you look closely at the mounting point in the upper right side of the radiator, you may notice that there is a slight buckling of the mesh. The mesh is what is supporting the entire weight of the combined cooling unit… not good.

Originally I had planned to mount the front panel by using PCI slot cover brackets. They are light, easy to drill on, already have a low profile and the 90-degree angle is already in place.

That changed once I saw the possible issues with all of the radiators weight sitting upon the mesh of the Bay cooler – sag, and eventual failure.

Horizontal support is not an issue; it is taken care of by the design of the Bay cooler. It is the vertical support that posed the problem. I decided to try and kill 2 birds with one stone. I would also pass the threaded rod through the face of the front panel and secure the nuts and covers on the outside of the front panel itself. This distributes the shearing force of the radiator, fan and liquid along the edge of the entire front panel that sits on the outside of the body rather than on the mesh which is on the inside of the body and not tacked down on its entire perimeter; Ergo: the warping of the mesh seen in the images.

….I will get back to that.

There was a small issue with the Silverstone PSU. After a series of congenial exchanges with Silverstone’s CSR I was able to secure a replacement/swap…. which means a re-ordering of the assembly procedure.

I took the opportunity to prepare the optical drive for mounting. The design I am using is one that was inspired by CyberDruid. I was quite taken by the cleanliness of the front panel on WaterClocker. I was able to purchase a NIB Plextor front-loading optical drive from CyberDruidPC.com, and another used one on eBay. The new one is going in Halcyon, so the used one is for Liquid Chameleon.

This meant cleanup. After taking some Goof-Off to the stickers and emblems, I dismantled, primed and painted the used Plextor.

Here are a couple images of the Plextor mounted. I had originally installed it without painting it. I had tried blackout with some flat-black shelving paper, but that was a disaster….back to paint. I am much happier with this look.

Dual radiator:

Mounting the dual-radiator in the stock opening in the case required the use of flanges. I made these from acrylic.

Here is the proposed mounting of the radiator.

The stock opening on the TJ07 leaves a considerable gap that would be a noticeable pressure hole in both the radiator side and the fan side.

Here is the mounting order of the radiator, fans and flanges.

This is the 99-cents foam that I used to make the gasket. The foam is about 1/16†thick and has a peel-and-stick backing.

Here are a couple shots of the dual radiator mounting process.

Final installation:

I will be fabricating a small veneer for the topside of the gasket so that the exposed foam is not…erm… so exposed. …must hide foam gasket.

Next: Back to the front panel.

Additionally I have added an interior window mod...

It's all about the details and you have them covered! Nice job on the photography too, it really captures the PITA factor of the problem/solution side of modding. Can't wait to see this monster all together!

Very nice job on the rads. Is the dual rad going to be external? Also, where do you buy that foam? It's exactly what I need for my rad...

Nice problem solving there Syrillian. like the choice of cable sock you use: Looks very old fashioned which adds to the cool factor immensely. Did you paint the face of the Plextor? It appears not...I would think the little brushes and stuff would be impossible to mask neatly..

Nice Syr, nice

I take it you'll be replacing those barbs out on the radiator with metal ones? They look so tacky compared to the rest of the case which is flawless
