iPod Hard Drive Clicking

Thread Starter
Hey,

So today was lisening to some music on my ipod and suddenly it stopped during a song. Looked at the ipod, completely frozen and it was making clicking noises. Restarted the iPod and kept on making the clicking noises and when booting it shows me the dead ipod with the apple support website link.

Tried to reset it with itunes. Managed to get it in disk mode and reset it but it doesnt work and it will keep on comming back as corrupted after every reset.

Im guessing that the hard drive is broken? anything else i could try?

buy a new HDD . . . or Ipod if you dont want to go through the trouble. . any clicking is probably bad . . . just like it is bad when a desktop HDD clicks. means something is hitting something which = not good. I wish they were smart enabled

How old is it, what gen? and Im assuming its a full size "classic"

hmm . . thats still pretty new isnt it? . . . if there is an apple store near you I would go to the genius bar. . . if not look online for ppl that fix ipods as there are alot of them (or just post for someone in the wanted section ). likewise there are tutorials on how to do it your self if you would rather dot that.

obv if you can get it running back up everything ASAP because IMO that HDD isnt lasting much longer if it hasn't dies already.
