The reason why I took a picture is because that comp is not hooked up to the internet yet.. still have to setup my router and install an AV program.

Well it seems like the drive is already formated and just needs to create the files so windows can reconigize it, so after you do that it should show up in "my computer".

Murlocke is dead on it would be new simple volume and not format. Creating a new simple volume does just that creates a volume (amount of space) that Vista can recognize as a drive.

One thing though, it gives me the following options:

Do I want a quick format and do I want to enable file and folder compression? And do I name the Volume label to whatever I want?

Just click next, defaults will work fine. It could take awhile to prepare the drive.

258GB should take like 30 minutes to prepare or so.
