Starup VID Is the set value of Volts that are fired into your CPU to get it started up

Here's a little more thorough explanation I posted a while ago:

It is said that a lower VID value will yield better overclocks, but nothing's been conclusively proven.

thanks

Voltages that gives your cpu enough power to run, some cpu's come with lower and higher vids all depends on the batch of the cpu i guess.. hopefully u have a low vid so u can get a higher OC

Hey! I'm on the forum but the question I really wanted to ask was this same "CPU VID" thing.

I know you told me what it is but I'm sooo curious. I used CORE TEMP to check my VID.

What does it really mean? The significance of it? I have a Q6600 with 1.2 something.
So what? What if I had 1.4 something? Does that really affect anything?

I see some posts talk about over-clocking.

What if I don't overclock at all? Then the VID doesn't really mean much to me?

Thanks!

*Also, does it matter what the VID is for my QX6850?
