This should fix your problem.
Worked great for me too, thanks!

Nice thread thanks - turns out if I had paid a little more attention to the dell downloads I would have seen that there were infact both drivers clearly(ish) labelled for the world to see - DOH!

Here's the situation:

Brand new Dell OptiPlex 755(Work computer so please don't waste my time with "that's what you get for getting a Dell")

Everything seems to be working fine until you open the Device Manager window and see the yellow question mark..."PCI Simple Communications Controller"

I have been doing some searching and this PCI simple thingy thing seems to basically be a modem, well there is no modem installed in the machine at all...

Only a LAN which works just fine...

I have tried to install the modem drivers off the CD but because there is no modem physically in the machine it won't work...

Someone out there has to have a work around or something so that when this machine goes out to whoever it doesn't have this stupid yellow question mark...

Obviously the yellow mark doesn't hurt anything they just would rather get rid of it all together...

Thanks for reading all of this mess and I hope it makes some sense to someone...

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot...
I have done so many tries to solve this driver. I have found these procedures:

1. Download Dell OptiPlex 755 System BIOS A10
Link:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=253423

2. Run new BIOS A10... Will take 10 minutes
3. Download AMT SOL/LMS. then run it normally.
4. Download AMT HECI. then run it normally.
Link: for 3 & 4
http://support.dell.com/support/down...g=en&TabIndex=

Accordingly you will not see the stupid yellow question mark any more.

Hoping I havd done well. And obtain your favour.

Hi guys,

Great to found this thread on google, but I'm still stuggling.

I had 2 yellow mark entries in my hardware manager.

1) PCI Serial Port
2) PCI Simple Communications Controller

After applying your solution with driver

Quote:
3. Download AMT SOL/LMS. then run it normally.
The first question mark disappeared and some communication port was installed. But I can't get sorted the second one.
If any1 has any ideas appreciated. I'll keep looking myself and when find something I'll update thread, thanks.

Hi all,

Thanks for this post and troubleshooting in this thread.

I beleive to fix the PCI serial port missing driver, you download

-Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility
http://support.dell.com/support/down...g=en&TabIndex=

This should be a Intel Storage Matrix Manager. Installing it should resolve the problem. Oh, I needed to restart before everything was ok. There was a yellow ! on the driver before restarting.

Thanks all for the assist.
