New Rig but Ready for New Intel Quad

Alright, my system is severely outdated (P4 1.8 Ghz, 512 RAM, geforce 4 ti4200), and well, its finally starting to go bad and keeps restarting on itself. I want to build a new system that can game, something I haven't been able to do for quite a few years on the old rig. Here's what I am Looking at:

CPU:Intel Dual Core E2140 Swtiched to E2160
I plan on upgrading to one of the new 45nm Quads coming out in January, as they really do look good. This should hold me over fine for 70 something dollars and I can overclock it to high hell. Plus, when I get my new processor, I'll use this one in my old system.

Heatsink: Ultra 120 Extreme or AC Freezer Pro 7
Probably will go with the AC Freezer Pro 7 for now than hit up the Ultra 120 Extreme when I get the new quad.

Mobo:Abit IP35-E LGA775 P35
Either this or something else relatively cheap, and I hear this thing overclocks well. I like the DFI Blood Iron too from what I've heard but this thing is just so cheap.

RAM:Muskin DDR2 800 switched to Ballistix unless I can get something cheaper that will give me the same OC
Won't buy from the egg if I can get it cheaper elsewhere. 4 GB is enticing but I shouldn't need it for now (maybe with the new processor in January...)

GPU: EVGA NVidia 8800GT. Yeah I don't thinks its listed, but it should be by monday, when I am hopefully making this purchase. Too good to pass up this card eh.

Power Supply:
Corsair 550VX
With the 20 dollar rebate, its a steal.

Case:Cooler Master RC690
Seems to be a favorite.

Hard Drives:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB
Western Digital 800JD 80 GB

Switched to 250 GB Seagate
The Seagate I figure for storage, and the smaller Western Digital for my Operating System. Will keep things easy if I have to reformat.

DVD Burner:Samsung SATA Burner

That's all I got for now, it should be a good set up. Should be had for under 800 bucks. If you see any ways I can cut costs without sacrificing much performance let me know.

Welcome. Looks good. If you need to update BIOS, please download the flash BISO program from abit website, do not use the one that comes with cd.

Thanks. I learn a ton from reading from the community's posts here - it really is a ton of help.

I am thinking about switching to the AC Freezer Pro 7. When I end up putting in the 45 nm Quad, I'll probably go with the Ultra 120 Extreme, but for now, the AC Freezer Pro 7 will be easier and plus I could use it for the backup rig when I do get the new quad.

Perfect build there I wouldn't change a thing...which is odd. If you have a bit of extra cashing kicking around though get the Blood Iron.
It's not slow...

Yeah, my only concern with it is I read that the NB or SB cooling might be inadequate and you'll need to purchase a heatsink for one of them. That type of stuff might be 1) hard for me to do and 2) just adds to expenses. Plus its about 50 bucks more than the Abit. I really do want the blood Iron though. Maybe I'll drop the extra hard drive and just separate the Seagate into 2 partitions.

Regardless, thanks for checking it over!

From what I've seen, people seem to prefer the Gigabyte over Abit. Personally my Asus P5K Deluxe gave me a lot of trouble, the Bios seems to be a bit messed up and the northbridge copper cooler is shaky. Not worth my 250$ =(

ahhh decisions. I might splurge on the 2180, only like 15 bucks more and I think I'd get a 10x multi which would probably help me get a higher overclock. The blood iron is so tempting too cause of the good things I've heard about DFI. But at the same time I hear the board isn't perfect. Maybe the $100 gigabyte P35 board is the way to go.

Alright, I plan on ordering tonight or tomorrow morning. Here are the changes I've come up with

CPU: I'm gonna go with the E2160, seems to be the way to go to get the highest clock speed.

Heatsink: AC Freezer Pro 7. It's only 20 bucks and it seems to be very well reviewed. No sense in putting a tower cooler on this processor. Only thing is I heard it doesn't fit the right way on the Abit mobo - instead of the exhaust going out the back of the case, you have to turn it 90 degrees and it points down. Will this be a big deal in my new case with regard to temps?

RAM: I'm unsure here. I think the ballistix here seem to be a great deal, but will I even need ram this high quality to overclock to what seems to be around 380 FSB? This is where I'm inexperienced, all the RAM to FSB ratios confuse me.

Hard Drive: Switching to the 250 GB Seagate here
It is supposedly newer/faster than the 320 seagate.

That's it. All in all I can't wait to get all this stuff. Unfortunately (when it comes to online purchases), I live in California and will have to pay sales tax. Unless anyone can help me figure out where to buy that will still be a good value with shipping and prices that won't charge me tax. Thanks guys. I'll update this and show the final result as I want to cable it the right way unlike my last rig which was just a complete mess.

Good cooler, just don't know about the mobo fit

Usually it is best to use a 1:1 ratio with the RAM. So if you are going to be as 380FSB, with a 1:1 ratio, the RAM would be running at 380Mhz. But, since it is Double Data Rate RAM, it is effectively running at 760mhz, that's even below stock on those Ballistix, but you can always run a ratio over 1:1 (ex 2:3) without a problem.

It is supposedly newer/faster than the 320 seagate.

I've heard the Western Digital AAKS revision hard drives are fastest, seen here, for performance per buck, I think they are great.

That's about it for now.

EDIT: These sticks are said to be great. They hit 1200mhz at around 2.2V!
