N2Gaming I too couldn't get over 220 FSB But then I figured it out check out a tread I made with my experence. There are Bios pics as well

So basically there is no reason to get a Black Edition processor? I see people are getting better overclocks with lowered multi and higher FSBs.
I wouldn't say that.....Having an unlocked multi gives you more options to achieve a desired result.

I have many ways of getting 3.3ghz but maybe only 2 ways are stable.

So I do think it's worth getting the Black Edition over a standard model.

Agreed. more options is always better but for the most part from what I have observed in other threads as with any processor the lower end cpu's usually have less cache and smaller die and watt rating so they are able to overclock more then the higher end cpu's. Lower end cpu's w/small dies and less watts equals less heat. so more headway for pushing the cpu. Higher end cpu's bigger dies more cache and more watts equals more heat and less headway. I have even read some where that amd uses the same batch of wafers to make many different cpu models by changing the multiplier on the chip. if I set my bios to auto it detects and sets my cpu to 2.6 when it's actually a 2.8 so there is prolly some truth to that some how.

Did any one notice the page # these posts are on.

Does anyone have an answer to my wild voltage readings? Ignore them or abort the overclock?

Weedvender,

What Heatsink are you using?

And could you post some screenshots? (CPUz-cpu and ram)( and a Pic of your temps)

And what are your voltages set to in your Bios

I have a XIGMATEK|HDT-S1283 R
And I have Midterms this week so I wont post the screens until Monday night.

My voltages in the bios are the last one just before the the 1.5 so I guess its 1.48. But the proc takes 1.6 volts under load. I have cool and quiet disabled. This is on a 780G Gigabye S2H Micro ->GA-MA78GM-S2H

Weed vendor: I would think 1.6v is pretty high for only getting a 3.1GHz OC. Well in all honesty the longer you run Higher voltages, the more you run the risk of electromigration and shortening the life of your CPU. I would think you could get by w/lower voltages to the cpu. maybe you have some ram timmings that might help you achieve a better overclock or at least one using less cvolt. hope this helps. One other thing to consider is lapping your IHS and heatsink if it is not already. Temps will play a big part in getting a good stable overclock and of course we all know the lower the temp the better.

Facecannon: Don't hate the player hate the game! Maybe you could try looser ram timmings or upping your voltages. what are your cpu/dram voltages?
