ATX12V1 connector. 4pin vs. 8 pin

My motherboard has an 8pin 12V1 connector but my PSU only has a connector for a 4pin. Will it work or no?

I don't think so, I wouldn't really want to try it myself. Is your PSU a Micro-ATX or something? I think you should get a new PSU.

ive got the IP35 pro as well and i didnt take the chance (if it really is a chance i do not know). when i was looking at new motherboards i noticed that asus ones with the 8 pin connector come with the extra 4 covered so i guess it would not matter much. i think the 8 pin is more for the newer quad core and extreme processors.
