Does Dell still make their stuff? I've heard numerous times that they outsource now, and I've heard that it's Acer that is making them....

they just buy the components from companies that make them, the same as if you were building your own PC, they buy the cheapest parts, get some retard to assmble it , load a bunch of unecessary software and stick some ridiculous warranty price on it even though the parts should already have their own warranty

Well, the assembly. Who assembles them? Isn't Dell just a "rebrander" now?

As far as I know, Dell still manages its own assembly plants. They don't fab parts or anything--they just assemble, ship, and support. You could say that about most computer brands--Alienware, HP, Acer, whatever.

And leastbay, the value Dell adds is mainly in support to customers. If the average person encounters problems with their computer (internet won't connect, computer won't start up, viruses, etc.) who do you think they're going to call? Microsoft? The HDD manufacturer? That's where Dell steps in, replacing parts where necessary.

EDIT: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell#Manufacturing

Dell does use some custom MBs, not a clue who makes those or their cases but...
The rest of the components and many of their MBs are purchased.

That's true about Dell buying parts cheap from makers. I brought a Foxconn mb for my daughter for like $50. Then one day someone brought me their dell pc to see what was wrong with it. It had the same mb like my daugther's. Except the bios was different and they locked the fsb so you couldn't upgrade it.

All they do is tell the maker to change the bios so you would need to upgrade from them. then to just buy a part from somewhere else.
