COD4 Profile Restoration

post #1 of 19
Thread Starter
Alright, I put quite a bit of time into my COD4 profile before I had to reformat and install vista - I saved the profile folders and mpdata config files, but on my Vista COD4 install, there is no "Players" folder, and nowhere to restore my profile. D:

Anyone know how to rectify the situation? I'm not a fan of the idea of starting over again.

If you DID save the files...

All you have to do is make the players folder in your COD4 directory and put the profiles folder in that folder.

There was also a COD4 Profile backup batch file that was put on oc.net but I can't find it.

heres the code.

Quote:
@echo off
echo COD4 stats Backup.
echo Backing up files Please wait....
@echo off
xcopy "Crogram Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommoncall of duty 4players" "C:COD4 Backup" /E /I /Y
So every time I finish playing I just run that and it backs up all my progress.

If your location is different then you have to change it, I however don't know the location if you did not buy the game off of steam. Sorry

You put the quoted text in a text file, and save it as a .bat and make sure that its saying as ALL FILES not .txt

I see... my XP install created it automatically. I'll try it out.

Edit:

Nope, didn't work, still won't load them. =/

Vista and XP installs are the same. Try going into the game and making a new profile. This should create the necessary folders/files. Then just overwrite them. Maybe your files are from different version (patch) of the game?

That's the problem, it hasn't created those folders/files. They're not there.

And yeah, they're from 1.2, the game's at 1.3 now.

if you haven't started a profile in the game (cause you freshed install) then im pretty sure the game wont create a folder (profile folder) for it until you make one. make one and then put your info in from before

ok, just to clear things up for people, I DO have profiles on the new install, went through and beat SP. But there is no folder, and when I search for the profile name in the COD4 folder, nothing shows up.
