Thread Starter
Hopefully over christmas/new years break I will be working on my first build. I have been scouting out parts and am trying to keep the price under $1400.

Case
CPU
Mobo
CPU cooler
RAM
GPU
HDD
CD drive
Power supply
Monitor

What do you guys think?
Very very very good choices on everything. Everything is perfect except I would reccomend getting this monitor over the sceptre.

That is if you can spend 25 more and 15 more shipping

I own the regular Al2216W version and I absolutely love it.
Meh.

Thanks for the recommendation. 22" would definitely be a big jump from my current 15" laptop.
Yea the 22" would definitely be a better pick than that 20", however the resolution wouldnt change. But that doesnt really matter.

If you need HD viewing though, you need the 1920 x 1200 resolution.

I made some changes:

Motherboard: DFI BLOOD IRON <~ One of the best P35 motherboards due to overclockability support and like $10 more than the Gigabyte DS3L.

RAM: Gskill 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800 HZ <~ Awesome RAM for an awesome price. HZ tends to overclock better than most RAMs. Plus, black PCB .

As for the rest, good picking ;D.

I like the Blood Iron mobo, but is the lower latency ram really worth an extra $80? Cause that money could possibly go towards some nice speakers/sound card.

I'd get the corsiar HX620 over the OCZ $119 after rebate.

And ballistix over that model of Gskill. Same price after rebate.

And I'd go with samsung, or viewsonic or LG for a monitor.

Should be sweet.
