$800 Intel Gaming Build - Page 3

A 256MB Video card seem a little low. Even if it's a 8800GT you should at least get the 512MB version it will be worth the extra 50-60$ in the long run.

That is unless you plan on playing at 1280x1024.

I would get a slightly cheaper CPU and the 512MB version of the 8800GT version... unless he plays at 800x600 or 1024x768... 256MB is pushing it for 1280x1024 at high settings IMO.

Probably you-know-what... =p

Anyway, at that price, I would get the Tuniq Tower. It's known for being second only to the Ultra 120, and it's more established... people have tried it and you're guaranteed to get awesome performance with it.

The Ultra 120 Extreme would be good too, but the price would be higher because you also have to buy a fan.

I would definitely get this, throw in a 8800GT 512, the TT and a HDD.

You should do some price hunting because newegg seems to be overpriced.

?
The same exact PSU held up my friends rig...X3210(Quad) oc'ed to 3Ghz with w 500GB HDD's and a 2900PRO 512. Pretty stable, although now he's using a corsair HX620.

Alright great thanks everyone!

For more information, he will be using Windows XP Pro. The resolution isn't set yet, but I imagin it will be 1280x1024 or higher (he still has a CRT).

That being said, I think I will go with a cheaper cpu and the 512mb version GT.

I think you all have convinced me to change the PSU. I'll probably recommend him the HX520.

Figured I'd try out the Nirvana HSF as it gets good reviews, but now I'm starting to lean towards the tuniq because it is proven.

Now my question is: Which cpu should I go for if I'm downgrading to get the 512mb GT?
