Game accelerator Or Game Gain, Do they really Work?

Thread Starter
I was poking around the 'Incrysis' Forums and Came across a post were this person had just installed Game accelerator 7 From major Geeks.
And they say that this program really helped with gaming performance. So what do these programs really do? I am almost willing to try anything to help Crysis run faster on my Rig. But I also don't want a App to take over my Rig without knowing what in fact it is changing to increase my Gaming experience.
Anyone here tried these kinds of Apps before? If so please share your results.
Thanx

It just probably sets running process priority. I doubt it can really help it that much. If it did really work, a real company would have bought it and market it. How much more can you optimize an OS?
Once again...

I think these types of apps are pure bull, my old dial up ISP provided us with something similar for internet speed.. it did NOTHING to speed besides chomp on my CPU useage >10% constantly... and eat about 50mb of RAM.

The best way to accelerate games is to close everything to free up RAM, get a cheap sound card to save CPU cycles, defrag your HDD, and tweak the registry. IMO I woulden't use anything like this, they're such a waste.

Thanx for your replies.
So who has some good tips on "Tweaking your Registry"??
I have a program called Registry Mechanic 7 Pro, It Says it Cleans Reg, Deletes Temp File, Optimise's Ram, Optimizes Boot up And some other stuff. Is that what you guys call tweaking your registry?
I also use CCleaner to help clean up the Garbage.
What else can I do to tweak my Registry?
Thanx
