I'm about to get my Lian-Li PC-v1000B case, but somebody told me that when the motherboard is upside down, the heatpipes won't work. Is this just a rumor?

Just took the pic. Should help!
yeah I kind of took the risk got the case and found out myself just having fun spending time hiding the cables lol. Don't know if you or anyone has some advice but i was thinking of getting a fan controller for the front, but obviously the x1000 has 5 I'm fans and then the extra 6th 120mm corsair one. Could 2 fans be linked using a splitter and controlled as one? Oh and should i have the fans connected to the rad going to the fan controller of M/B?

Thanks

A tad late but that is at best inaccurate. Heatpipes have a wicking material inside them that means they will work efficiently in any orientation. The heatpipes may work best in a specific orientation (depending on the design) but they will be absolutely fine upside down.

For myself, none of my fans are controlled, I'm letting them go at full blast. It's pretty quiet, the loudest fan is my graphics card at 60% fan speed...

I am in it to win it, but my Lian Li is a bastard son of steel and plastic. Still a great solid case though in my opinion.....

My old case

my cats opening my new one

New case, PSU is facing up because my 8 pin cable was not long enough the other way, new longer one is ordered.

Front with an Antec drive bay, which will be replaced with a thermaltake one so I can use the regular mesh drive bay covers with it.

More to come as I finish this case!!

Still i'd like the option to adjust speed if needed. It's better to have something and not need it than need something and not have it . I was looking at a Lamptron 4 Channel Fan Controller as according to reviews you can run 2 fans off 1 channel. Plus i like the choice of display text colour (I'm a sucker for colour coordination ).

I just received the LIAN LI PC-8FIB today and it has the 3.0 USB cables, the blue ones, but they seem extremely long and thick. I thought at first it would be cool but after thinking about it for a while I don’t think I want to see thick blue wires running thru my new case and out the back to plug them in, luckily I have the optional twin 140 fan top for a LIAN LI PC-7FNW that I decided not to use on a computer I built for my brother so I took the USB 2.0 set up from it to use, black wires and much thinner.
I still have to cut a slot on the side like on my PC-P50R has to hide my wires, I was going to use the Gigabyte GA-890 FXA-UD5 but I had to return it because it wouldn’t post without resetting the bios so now I have a second ASUS Crosshair IV for it. Pictures in the next day or 2.

I think Lian-Li made a screw up on their HDD cage on the LIAN LI PC-8FIB, in the picture of the cage on their web site the back of it is open to allow running the wires on the back side, on the version I got it’s not completely open, had to cut some aluminum off the open up the hard drive connector on the drive.
I also put a Lian-Li fan switch in the front behind the front cover to control the front fans. I still need some ram and a TV card. I also like the looks of the round red SATA III cables, looks great with the CH IV.
